Our Wholesale Bug List
Wholesale prices available to stores, institutions, museums or individuals with resale tax numbers. Please provide that information. The minimum order is $200.00. Method of payment: COD, Credit Card or purchase order from institutions. Credit information must be supplied for stores wishing service other than COD.
Our specimens are in 1" square plastic magnifying boxes. Our inventory is usually around 3000+ pieces. Prices for these are:
- Category A: $3.00 -- Visible insect or insect parts. Smallest insects, not great placement, pieces possibly fractured. Insects in this category include small diptera, ants, and other common insects (see list at end) or insect parts. (these specimens are great for retail in museum shops, etc. where the market is mainly children building collections...or schools using these specimens for study under microscopes etc.)
- Category B: $6.00 -- Visible insect. Better quality than A specimens. Better visibility, no integral fractures.
- Category C: $10.00 -- Visible insect. Better quality than B specimens. Beginning to include insects in the "fairly common" category...stingless bees, larger diptera, wood boring beetles...Often specimens are adaptable to jewelry uses.
- Category D: $15.00 -- These have good placement, visibility, or multiple insects in "most common" category, or poor placement of "uncommon" insects.
- Category E: $20.00 -- Very nice specimens of "fairly common" insects. Pieces of amber are still small, however (as in all of the lettered categories).
- Category F: $25.00 and up -- "Not too common" insects, individually priced. We currently have spiders, small centipedes, leaf hoppers, plant hoppers, beetles, silverfish, small crickets, flowers of hymenaea tree, leafs, large enhydros, among many. Let us know what you are looking for.
At the moment our specimens are not identified by an entomologist. We may be able to provide this service in the future. You can feel free to return any specimens you are not satisfied with, or we have identified incorrectly, if you are looking for something very specific.
We can also provide larger specimens if there is a sufficient demand (buying trips several times a year), and can "search" for specific insect or plant inclusions. - There are many more Insect Sites on the web.
All of the specimens we carry come from the Dominican Republic, central mountain range, the area between Puerto Plata and Santiago. The estimated age of the amber in this region is beween 30 and 40 million years.
- Most common: small diptera, small ants, insect parts
- Fairly common: larger ants, small termites, larger diptera, stingless bees, wood boring beetles
- Not too common: beetles (other than wood boring), spiders and web formations, small crickets, small moths, leaf hoppers, plant hoppers, mosquitoes
- Not common, and highly sought after: any large specimen of the above, impressive groupings (graveyards), certain spider varieties(larger, daddy long legs), centipedes and millipedes, flowers and leaves in good condition, large enhydros and unusual formations.
- Rare: fireflies, praying mantises, walking sticks, grasshoppers, larger centipedes, scorpions, pseudoscorpions, ticks, earthworms, frogs, lizards, fleas, mushrooms, feathers.
